"I am a Librarian!"

...not quite yet, anyway. I just liked that quote as it was drunkenly exclaimed by Rachel Weisz's character Evie in "The Mummy". But at this point, I'm well on my way to becoming one myself (not a mummy--a librarian!). :op

Strangely enough, my mental image association with the word librarian was always one of a semi-elderly lady with spectacles sittling low on her nose and her hair pulled up into a tight salt-and-pepper bun--on a good day, maybe a pencil was even stuck in it; on a bad day, she hissed at you with her index finger cemented to her pursed lips. [I'm sorry, but I can't help it if my mental images are sexist and insensitive to senior citizens.] Yet now that I'm working towards an MLIS (Master's degree in Library and Information Science), I realize that librarians and their respective field(s) aren't stereotypical at all.

So for the next 2 years, I'm gonna find out exactly how un-typical library science is. Wanna come along for the ride? I'll definitely need the company!
